Lessons from a Giraffe...

While studying Kane's Awana verse with him this morning we were told to look up an amimal to talk with our kiddos about. The idea being that I would talk to him about God's handiwork.

Kane decided he wanted to learn about the Giraffe.

Here's what we learned:

1) Giraffes are non territorial

2) Pleasant/social animals

3) They travel in herds that are not organized in any way- the herds may consist of any sex or age group (in other words no discrimination)

4) Young giraffes are very vulnerable and cannot defend themselves. While mothers feed, the young are kept in small nursery groups. (so they get each others backs and work together)

So I just thought that these animals, besides being super cute, are super great animals that we can learn a lot from.

I mean how much better would we be as a society if we all worked together, not worrying about sex and age, looked out for one another, and all got along spending our time concerning over the greater good and not ourselves?

This is what the giraffe taught me today...thought you might want to know.

Have a Happy Day!

When we moved to California, my mom developed a serious obsession with giraffes. We now have 2 life size ones in our backyard (named Manhattan and Ellis after our home state) and a bunch of giraffe paraphernalia around the house.

And now I understand why: giraffes are amazing creatures!

Most all animals could teach us humans a thing or two about life...thanks for the giraffe commentary!

I love giraffes. Did you also know that the word giraffe comes from the Arabic word for graceful?

I love being able to look at animal communities and dreaming about having them into our society. If only.

Great post Kasey, I'm linking back to it on my blog. I really love your blurb at the end... What exactly is Awana? I would love to do something like this with my son on a weekly basis as home bible study! Love to hear from you

Is he Sparks or Cubbies? I've been posting printables for Awana on my homeschool blog {verse sheets and more} to help our kiddos learn their verses. :)
