Wednesday (barely) Tour: Dining Room

Okay, so I know that it is almost 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, but better late than never I say!

I am so happy to have you all here to see the featured room in my house this week, my Dining Room! This is one of my favorite rooms in my house. So welcome and enjoy...

This room had green wallpaper with an apple border and some ugly cream and green colored laminate when we bought it. Oh and it had a super ugly chandelier. This is what it looks like now!

Didn't my hubby do a super good job on the floors and hanging my pretty chandelier? I think so! I bought this table and the white chairs (they were brown when I bought them though) at a junk store about 6 years ago. I sanded the table down and re-stained it this dark stain. And another view...

I saw the idea for the greenery wrapped around the chandelier in a magazine. I just noticed that I need to get the silver stickers off the lights (how embarrassing).

I got this mirror in a near by town at my very favorite antique store the White Rabbit. Isn't it gorgeous? I just love it and it is the greatest centerpiece to these beauties...

The plate pattern on the top is a Currier and Ives print. My mother has a collection of the green pattern, and my grandmother had the blue (which my mother now has also), so I decided to start collecting the red. I have more of them in a china cabinet in my kitchen (which I will show you later, you'll just have to stay tuned to see it).

I spray painted and sanded these chairs until they were just the right about of shabby. I also reupholstered them in this cute white and red checked fabric. I enjoy the touch of red in the room.

This little chair I bought at Pier One. I don't like for things to be too matchie-matchie. So this little chair was the perfect piece to make my little chair family complete!

I bought this cute little curtain rod at my local Wally World (wal-mart).

I bought these paint by numbers beauties at the White Rabbit also. I just love the color they add to the space.

Well there it is...I would love to hear what you think, so please feel free to leave a comment so I can come and visit you all too!

Oh and come back later tomorrow for the unveiling of my new haircut...you can see the styles I was thinking about here.

Everyone have a great day (or night)!!!

Wednesday Tour: Front Bath

I know that I said that the tours of my home were going to be on Tuesday, but I had a change of plans now that I am working on Tuesdays. So you can now enjoy the tours on Wednesdays instead (I'm featuring a new room each week).

Today I am glad to show you my front bath. Since my guests use this bathroom as well as my children I chose to decorate it non-kid (don't feel sorry for them, they each have their own bedrooms and a playroom).

When we first started on this bath it had hunter green and mauve wall paper with a matching border, green, mauve, and cream laminate, brown stained cabinets, and a different light fixture (we did all the remodel ourselves with a little help from some family-I love you Tori. Yay us!). So this is it's unveiling!

So Welcome, and enjoy your look around!

Yes! That is my elbow...sorry.

This "H" used to be Gold, but I refurbished it. Isn't it cute? You can see how I did it here.

I made these framed button art. I will be giving a tutorial on how to make them Saturday. So come back and check it out!

This corner of the bath is still a little sad. I still want to do more to it, but I just don't know what yet. Oh and I redid this frame too! It used to be gold as well. I did it the same way I did the "H" above so if you want to know how click on the link above.

I love this stool! My dad made it for my kids...aren't homemade things so much better? Especially when they are a gift from family and friends!

This is a grapevine wreath that I unwound. I also shabby chic-ed this basket (see above link for directions).

I got this scoop at one of my baby showers. It is great for storing toys in the tub. It hangs on the wall of the bathtub with suction cups. I think it came from Target.

So there you have it...My front bath. I hope you enjoyed and maybe even got some ideas for your own homes. Hope to see you back next week (or more often if you want!). Bye!

Tuesday Tour: Kane's Room

I'm normally not a theme kind of girl, but I guess if I had to pick a theme for Kane's room it would be travel mixed with a touch of sports (his daddy is a coach after all). These shelves I got at Hobby Lobby along with the little planes and tractor. I love the blocks, they spell out his name.

I love antique furniture! This little display is where the sports comes in to the room.

This little shelf use to be white. I used spray paint to make it blue. The letters that spell out Kane on the wall I got at (where else?) Hobby Lobby. I spray painted them red and then used craft paint to decorate them.

I love these buckets! They are great for storing small things. This one Kane keeps his action figures in. It's great because when it's time for him to clean them up he can just scoop them all up and dump them in. There is also one with books in it (above on the blue shelf), and one with stuffed animals in it. You can buy these at Pottery Barn for who knows how much, or you can do what I did and go to Home Depot and buy them for a few $$$s and then (you got it) -Spray paint them!

I went to Wal-mart and bought a U.S. map, cut it in half, crumbled it up, put it in really concentrated tea, let it dry, and then framed it for this look below. I found the chair at a flea market, and the globe at a yard sale!!!

I love Kane's bed. I bought the frame at an auction for $25. When I got it rust had taken it over. I had Nolan sand it down for me, and then I (you guessed it!) spray painted it! (did I mention how much I love spray paint?) The sign on the wall was attached to a huge, wooden stork that was stuck in our yard when we came home from the hospital after having him. Isn't it cute?!

Kane loves pirates. His grandma Shirley got him this little tin sign to hang in his room. He thinks it's pretty cool.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the tour of Kane's room. Make sure to come back next Tuesday for a tour of another room in my house.
