This is what they looked like laying in my studio (a.k.a. my garage floor) before I did anything to them...
First I spray painted them completely black...
Then I spray painted them white, let it dry, and sanded them just so. After I sanded I mixed glaze with a bit of brown paint and using a paint brush I painted the brown glaze over the frames. I then took paper towels and wiped the glaze until it looked how I wanted it to. After the glaze dried I spray painted a clear acrylic over the frames. This is what I got...
I have been looking for something to hang in my hall. So this is what I got and I love them! If you want to see where I got this great idea check it out here over at the the Joys of Home blog.
Make sure to come back on tuesday. I'm going to start a tour of my home. One room of my home every tuesday until there are no more. Hope to have you here!

Beautiful Job! I love spray paint.
I love your hall of frames! What a great way to show off your darling family.
I'm so glad you invited me to see your finished project. And thanks so much for the "linky love."
Wow, the frames look great!! I wish I could do something like that, but let me tell you, it would just look like a can of spray thre up on everything;) Thanks visiting my blog and for the website.
wow they came out great. I have at least 25 frames my husband saved from his moms house and they have been sitting in the garage I have a new PROJECT. thanks for sharing.
they turned out great! Very cute! :) Martha
This is fantastic! I have a wall along the stairs that is just screaming out for cute frames.
Wow, these look beautiful. Whoever said diamonds are a girls best friend never used any spray paint!!
I am going to give this a try :) Thanks.
I love the shabby sheik (I mean chic) look as well. I have tried some painting techniques on furniture, but haven't applied it to frames yet. I guess that is my next project. What is great about this technique is you can pick up old frames at garage sales and make them seem newly old! Thanks for the advice and the pics.
