Balance...

This is the deal...

The other day while blogging my son said to me that I am on the computer too much.

My husband made the same statement and so did my mother.

With that said, I have decided I need some balance! It has really been laying heavy on my heart that I feel like I spend more time with my computer than my own children. I don't want them growing up thinking this!

At the same time blogging is the one way that I am able to unwind and be creative so it is for this reason that I do not want to give it up either!

Here is the plan:

I will still be doing Friend Makin' Mondays unless I feel like I need the time for family and then I will let you know ahead of time.

Fashion is my passion on Fridays will now be once or twice a month.

I will only be allowing myself time to comment on other's blogs once a week and I will be trying to do this on Thursdays. I love to comment on your blogs but I just have to be careful or before I know it I'm commenting every second I walk past the computer. I feel like if I just say on Thursday's during nap is my time to do this then I will be doing better (and not feel guilty 24/7).

So please don't be upset if I'm not commenting on every post you put up. Just know that when it is Thursday I will get there and catch up on you...I promise! Know that I love all of you! love your blogs, and love the friendships that I've formed with you! This is the main reason I'm trying to find this balance and not just giving it up!

I will be posting family stuff whenever stuff arises.

Another reason I am cutting back is because I am going to be filling some of the time that I was blogging with a bible study! I'm really excited about it, and I know that if I get my priorities straight and put God #1 then things will be less stressful and fall into place better!

Thanks for listening and understanding!

I'm impressed.

Seeing there's an issue is one thing attending to it and making a change is another. Way to go...I will miss you though.

My children are older and at school most of the day so it's a different story with me but I completely understand how it sucks you in, my kids have commented as well. I'm doing my best to get my computer time done durning their school hours or at night when everyone is off doing their own thing.

Please send me your mailing information...I don't know if you saw that I included you in my give away!

Come back refreshed!

Hi Kasey - I'm in the same boat, I feel. I have been needing some balance lately. I forgot how much work a 2 year old and a mobile baby could be! I limit my computer time to times that I am working or the kids are in bed. It's definitely cut into my commenting but I'm doing my best.

Can't fault ya for doin the right thing!

AAAA-Men sister, I had to do the same thing... My 2 year old hopped up on my computer and started typing and when I asked him what he was doing, he said- "Mason busy, 5 minutes please!" It broke my heart... I did get a blackberry so my updates could come to my phone- it helped, but now the darn thing chimes all of the time and I hate it...

I think it's great that you're focusing more on your family! I've heard this a lot around the blogosphere lately...I think it's really hard for all of us to find balance!!

Props to you sister. I agree 110%. I'm struggling with trying to find the balance too. That's why I expressed the other day the pressure & obligation of commenting. I meant it more as pressure, b/c I put so much pressure on myself to comment every person back. It is just impossible, unless I neglect other responsibilities. I was at a point a couple days ago where I almost walked away. I do not want to do that. So I'm having to limit myself.

I also used to read every single post in my reader. Impossible as well. I do my best though.

Look forward to the posts that you will do. You should keep up the Friend Makin mondays though. :)

I'm impressed, too, Kase. I go through phases where the computer sucks me in and phases where I hardly touch it. I actually have to turn it completely off sometimes, like if I'm waiting for a reply and keep going back to check my e-mail too often, and that helps! Anyway, good job! You spotted a problem and you decided to fix it. And not only that, but to start a bible study in place of some of that time. That's great!

See you this weekend!!

Hi Kasey, I have heard the same comments from my family and since I started working again, my blogging has taken a backseat to everything else. When I have time I get on the computer, after everything else is done and the DH and Coco are taken care of!! Enjoy your time with your family!

I think this is wonderful. I too feel that my time is spent more on the computer rather than doing things that I really need to do. I admire you for admitting that and doing what you need to do for you. I hope you enjoy your new bible study. That sounds wonderful!

Good for you, Kasey! Keeping up with everyone's blogs can get very overwhelming and consuming. I'm so blessed to have met you and look forward to continuing to connect with you! What Bible study are you doing?

Wow-- a great time to catch your blog. I think I've only seen it once before. And actually, I'm spoiling myself on computer time tonight because we're having an "unplugging day" tomorrow. I'm going to make Fridays computer-untouchable-days. I think we're going to implement a schedule for our afternoons, too...not just school time schedules.
Sorry, I'm rambling. Priorities, right? It's all about our priorities! :-)

I totally understand. Blogging takes up a lot of time. Sometimes I just have to leave the computer off until I get all my work and family time done. That is why I usually post and make comments late at night. However that runs into staying up to late. Since we were needing balance in the Miller house we have a rule now that we have to be in bed by 11 pm. So if that means no blogging that day, so be it. I hope you get everything worked out, and enjoy your time with your family. Have a blessed week.

Totally get where you are coming from. Balance is a hard thing to find in all aspects of life.
My blog doesn't get tended to each day and I'm ok with that.

Hope you find it and enjoy the time with the family.:)

Good for you! I feel the same a lot of the time, but don't have a family to tend to and therefore no motivation to actually disconnect ;) Great decision for you :)
