Yard Sales are...

...the Devil!

I have been in the middle of a yard sale for the past 2 days and I am about at my breaking point. I'm pretty sure some lady just stole some Mary Kay from me. I mean seriously?! It was just a $1!!! Is she really that hard up for some makeup?

Every time I have to pee I have to race into the house and hurry like a mad woman just in case someone shows up. Next time I'm thinkin' I might take a little longer and if I'm lucky when I come back out the yard sale fairy will have taken it all away for me and in its place in the middle of my driveway will be $200 or something close to that anyway!

Oh Well! Here's to keepin' the dream alive!!!

We have a community yard sales once a year. This April was my first time participating in 7 years. Now I know why I have never done it before!

It is a crazy mob scene and if you're not out of the hood by 8 a.m. you can forget about leaving, heaven forbid there be an emergency! It takes about 30 minutes to make it to the community entrance.

Insane!

We held one a few years ago and and a lady was trying to bargain me down from $20 to $1 !! When I refused I walked into my house because she was throwing such a tantrum and she FOLLOWED ME ! We haven't had a yardsale since - LOL !!

This was so not what I wanted to read. We are having our yard sale next weekend. I am thrilled!

Wow! Sorry not turning out that great. I can't believe Lori's experience either. You don't ask anyone to come down to $1.00 from a $20.00 item...that's ridiculous! And then for her to follow her throwing a fit...get real!

Also, anyone stealing at a yard sale...outrageous! Do you sell Mary Kay?

Come on people! I don't want everyone to stop having yard sales because of your insanity!

Sorry for the outburst! Hope you made some nice spending money!

Oh bummer. I hope you make enough to have it all be worth your while.

I did a yard sale about 5 years ago. Never. Again.

Good Luck- hope you get that $200!

Totally agree. I love to go but I HATE having one. It's nearing an insanity point for me to even think about ever doing such a thing ever again!

Yard sales can be fun. But when you run them they can not be that fun.

We finished ours up today. We had 11 people put stuff in so it was a big sale and sometimes hard to keep track of but I made over $400 and I have never done that before. So it was worth it but I always say I am never doing it again. Hope yours was a success.

I hope that at the end of the day your yard sale was a success. Don't you just dislike sneaky stealers? It is so unnecessary and insulting really. They are too hard to do on your own especially when it comes to potty breaks. Have a great weekend.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

I hope it brings you some fun spending money! Sorry for the crazy experience.

I've never held one, but plan to this year...I'm a little frightened!

Oh, that sounds awful. I've been planning on having a garage sale...I guess I'll have to brace myself :0. I hope you can rest up tomorrow!

I hope your yard sale went well! I really need to have one of those. And so sad that lady would steal $1 worth of makeup...

Wow! That's madness! Did it turn out okay? This is exactly why I'm a Salvation Army kind of gal...just dump my stuff off and drive away. But then again, no moolah involved with that one. I feel for ya!

I had a couple steal a fake silver braclet,I mean come on, did they think I'd leave the real stuff outside?I was laughing at the horror of his wife's wrist turning green ;)

Wow...first, I hope she didn't actually steal it. Yikes! Secondly, the fairy part sounds cool. Third, in NY garage sales are called "tag sales."

I see that Becca already posted a comment about a yard sale that we had 5 years ago. So much stealing going on! Nowdays, I just give it all away on freecycle.com. If people want what I have enough to come get it, they can have it for free!

I will agree. I am not a fan of hosting yard sales. My mother never took me to yard sales as a kid so I don't have a love for the yard sale world. I love a bargain but sometime I will just pay the extra money, to avoid the stress! Hope you made enough money to make it worth your time.
Have a blessed Sunday!

My first "adult" yard sale after I was first married was awful. We had several steal things (really, steal when things are practically given away?) and had a lady short change me. She gave me a $10, I was giving her the change and she insisted she gave me a $20. It went round and round and she started yelling, so I just gave her the extra change to get her to be quiet and leave. Awful!!

you are a brave girl! I should have one b/c we have so much stuff, but instead I just cart it all to goodwill. Actually, the construction workers in our neighborhood take it if you leave it out on the curb. works for me!
