Vacation '09 - Day 6

Day 6 we woke up early and got around. We headed into the downtown part of Frisco, CO and walked around for a while at the Historic Park and Museum. Frisco was a super cute little town in the perfect little setting right smack in the middle of the Rockies.

The Historic Park in Frisco was full of these old cabins that are all original to the little town.

After Frisco we drove on to Vail, CO. We just drove through and looked at different things (driving through it was about the only thing we could afford to do in Vail!).

Day 6 brought with it less of the Rockies that were covered with beautiful evergreens but more canyons and desert looking plants. I kept thinking I hope no rocks fall into the road!

We ate a picnic lunch next to the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon. It worked out perfect because we were able to let Kane ride his bike on the sidewalk next to our picnic table.

I'm about to go crazy because the floor board at my feet is getting out of control! I clean it and then 10 minutes later it looks like this...

We arrived at our destination Grand Junction, CO around 4 pm yesterday. We visited the Colorado National Monument. It was really pretty with tons of canyons and different looking rock structures. It even had this cool tunnel that Kane thought was super cool.

Little Man and Nolan held their breath through the tunnels...

One of the many overlooks. I wouldn't get any closer than about 3 ft to the railing. I made Nolan promise to never let go of Kane's hand. It made me feel a little better, but not 100%!

Isn't this crazy looking?! It's called Coke's Oven.

Now tell me...am I crazy for this making me nervous?...

We finished off the night sharing some wonderful pasta at a restaurant called Il Bistro. They made all their pasta fresh on site. We had a seafood pasta with a light sauce and it was super tasty! However the place was a little fancy and we rolled in with our athletic shorts on with our sweaty shirts from hiking at the Colorado National Monument, our cranky, loud kids, and I'm sure they were thinking what the heck! Oh Well!

We headed back to our very nice hotel (hubby has redeemed himself since the first night!), and headed to bed early! Tomorrow another busy day!

These next few pictures are from Day 5 in the Rocky Mountain National Park (from the other camera).

Aren't they pretty!

You are not crazy or paranoid to be nervous next to those scenic cliffs of doom. I have a ridiculous paranoia of heights, so I am impressed you got as close as you did.

I am loving your updates and I am touring these states vicariously through you! :)

You're floorboard cracks me up- every trip we take, mine looks the same. What is it that we moms get to take care of all the "stuff" while on a road trip???

Love the pictures. Keep them comin!!

What beautiful pictures! Those mountains are breathtaking. I have a huge fear of heights so those would really make me nervous!

It's too bad you aren't passing through Utah - I could show you around! Hope the rest of your trip is safe and fun!

XOXO
